AnnualMoonshine Lunch Run
12 April 2008
I got an email today(7-17-08) that I need to share
with everyone who has been to the MLR. Shelly
from the Comfort Inn in Casey, IL had her husband
pass away a couple of weeks ago. Motorcyclist
from this event donated money for Terry to give to
her. He stopped by the hotel this morning
before leaving out on his vacation. I got this
from her:
I received a gift
from your organization yesterday. I am so overwhelmed
by your kindness. I am at a loss for words. I know
some of you, but not all of you. All I can say is
THANK YOU FROM MY HEART AND SOUL!! I have lost the
love of my life and I feel lost and broken. If a
broken heart can be felt, I feel it daily. We had 25
years together and we often talked about growing old
together and moving somewhere, where there was
mountains. He loved the outdoors and dreamed of a
cabin overlooking a great mountainside. He was an
avid horse rider and I think that is what he is
doing now with the lord. I miss him more than I can
ever express to you, but your kindness gave me a much
needed lift and I do not take it for granted. I didn't
have names to thank individually, so I took this
route. Please know you helped me in a way I will
never forget. In time, I hear I will heal and get
better, but right now every day is a struggle. I lean
on the lord very strongly to get me through every
day. Thank you so much, Shelly Bolin. Comfort
Inn, Casey, IL. 7-17-08
Your welcome Shelly!
This definitely shows the friends people make at the
event.
I thought I saw the webmaster drive to Moonshine on
Saturday. I did, but only from Casey. I
did ride my motorcycle for the trip. I had a
beautiful trip home with the temperature soaring in
the mid thirties with light snow, rain and sometimes
mixing. As I rolled into my hometown of
Peoria, IL, it was sunny and a blistering 43
degrees. Who said you have to go South for it
to get warmer?
Which brings me to a disclaimer, MLR does not
promote riding in unsafe conditions. You can
become a "motorcycle rider" at any MLR event.
Some people just take things too seriously.
What a perfect Moonshine weekend! Light
scattered showers and somewhere around 400 people.
To top it all off, we now have added to the
Moonshine burger record with approximately 610 (I'll
get the official count soon). That is second
place and we now have the top 4 places.
It was great to see so many people Friday night at
Richard's Farm. Terry recognized all the Iron
Butt Rally riders present as well as those who
travelled a great distance to get there. Pete
Rogers from Oasis, BC rode 2,196 miles for a
Moonburger. He won the longest distant award.
I hope to post pictures of his bike covered with
snow as he travelled to Moonshine. This
definitely has turned into quite the long distant
rider event to eat a burger. I would say it
definitely fits the whacky idea, held in a whacky
spot, at a whacky time with whacky weather.
I would like to thank all those who donated. I
was able to present Terry with a check for 550.00.
I would also like to thank everybody that helped to
make this event happen. I would like to add a
special thanks to the Christian Motorcycle
Association Chapter #836 for the "Blessing of the
bikes" on Saturday and the Church service on Sunday.
I talked to Terry and he would like to thank
everybody that came and also the people who helped
with the event. He sounded like he was ready
to crawl up in bed for two days to catch up on
sleep.
I received a link with a little write up about us.
Here.
If you have any pictures to add to the site, you can
email the me from the contact page or the Webmaster
link at the bottom of the page.
I almost forgot, the next Moonshine will be
April 18th, 2009.
And remember Terry's famous words.....
If you don't make it to Moonshine,,, you ain't a Motorcycle Rider,,,
you're just a Motorcycle Owner!!!
